Application Requirements

 

Requested Documents for Application

The admission committee requires (certified) copies of the following documents in order to be able to verify your application:

  • Letter of Motivation: The letter should not be longer as one A4-page and is to be written in English. Other formal requirements do not apply.
  • School Leaving Certificate (or an equivalent degree of qualification for access to German universities) (certified copy).
  • Bachelor Degree (or an equivalent degree obtained at an university or technical university).
  • Transcript of Records.
  • Two Letters of Academic Recommendation: The letter should provide contact information of the author. The letter can be written in English and/or German. Other formal requirements do not apply.
  • Proof of English Language Skills: Prospective students who have neither acquired their university entrance qualification nor their first professional qualification exclusively in the English language must provide proof of knowledge of the English language at the level C1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, which must be proven by any one of the following certificates:
    • TOEFL, Internet-based Test (iBT): Minimum score of 95 (not older than two years)
    • IELTS test: Minimum score of 7 (not older than two years)

    • Cambridge English Qualifications: C1 Advanced (formerly Cambridge English: Advanced, CAE)

    • Telc Certificate: C1

    • TOEIC: Minimum scores of 490 (listening), 455 (reading), 200 (writing), 200 (speaking) (not older than two years)

    • Pearson PTE Academic: Minimum score of 76 (not older than two years)

    • UNIcert: UNIcert III
  • Applicants with a foreign school and university degree must also send a certified translation of degrees unless they exist in German or English.

 

Submitting the Bachelor Degree at a later date / Admission with Qualified Acceptance

An application with an incomplete Bachelor's degree is possible if

  • the prospective student can prove that he/she has already completed 150 ECTS. Therefore he/she will have to submit a preliminary transcript including a preliminary total grade average. The grade average must include all work to date. Conditional admission may then be granted as qualified acceptance. The admission to the master course expires if proof of the Bachelor degree is not given by September 30th.
  • the prospective student can prove that he/she has completed 180 ECTS but is missing the final certificate of the Bachelor Degree. Therefore he/she will have to submit his/her preliminary transcripts. Conditional admission may then be granted as qualified acceptance. The admission to the master course expires if proof of the Bachelor degree is not given by September 30th.
