APPLICATION PROCESS

Below you will find a detailed explaination on how to apply.
Please use only this way to apply - DO NOT SEND ANY DOCUMENTS TO THE IMES OFFICE DIRECTLY. Documents and/or applications submitted through another way will not be considered.
I. Application with an International Degree
Prospective students with an international degree need to apply via uni-assist for a VPD document (''Vorprüfungsdokumentation''). If you apply with a degree from China, India, or Vietnam, please follow the information of the International Office regarding the APS certificate. The relevant degree is your Bachelor's degree (or an equivalent degree obtained at an university or technical university) - not the school leaving certificate (or an equivalent degree of qualification for access to German universities)!
For that, you need to go to ''My Assist'', choose ''Universität zu Köln – VPD'', and follow the instructions. Do not worry, IMES does not appear namely, the VPD document is for all subjects (except for Faculty of Management, Economics and Social Sciences), which includes IMES.
After you receive the VPD document from uni-assist, you need to apply via Klips 2.0. On Klips 2.0 you need to upload the VPD document along with the required documents as listed on our homepage here.
In case the Klips 2.0 page appears in German, please go to the upper right corner and switch the language to English.
If you have any trouble with uni-assist and/or Klips 2.0, please contact the uni-assist support / Klips 2.0 support.
Please note that you need to follow this procedure if you have obtained your degree outside of Germany - your nationality is not relevant when applying.
KLIPS 2.0 Application Deadline 2023: 15th July 2023 (you can submit your application starting June, 1st, 2023).
Uni-Assist Application Deadline 2023: Please follow the information and instructions on the homepage of uni-assist!
II. Application with a German Degree
Prospective students with a German degree need only apply via Klips 2.0. The relevant degree is your Bachelor's degree (or an equivalent degree obtained at an university or technical university) - not the school leaving certificate (or an equivalent degree of qualification for access to German universities)! This is also the case for applicants who graduated from the University of Cologne.
KLIPS 2.0 Application Deadline 2023: 15th July 2023 (you can submit your application starting June, 1st, 2023).
