Information on Individual Advanced Modules & Internships
IMES students are required to complete 30 ECTS of Advanced Modules in semester 3 of their studies, which includes a mandatory Advanced Module in Environmental Sciences worth 6 ECTS, and two elective Advanced Modules (“AM”). Every semester, the IMES adminsitration will communicate which taught AMs are eligible for registration. In addition students have the freeedom to pursue individual advanced modules or internships relating to their IMES studies which can constitute an Advanced Module.
For an individual advanced module with a particular member of the Faculty, students must discuss and reach an agreement with the concerned Faculty member regarding coursework, assignments, mode of examination, certifying that it constitutes 12 ECTS of coursework.
If students wish to pursue an internship, they must approach a member of the IMES Faculty to be their internship supervisor, who must then agree to said supervision, and ensure that the coursework relating to that internship is equivalent to 12 ECTS.
In case of both the individual advanced module, and the internship Advanced Module, students must ensure that they submit the following forms, completed to the IMES Academic Coordinator for his/her signature before the date of commencement of the coursework/internship. The cross-signed form will then be returned to the respective student and supervisor. Only then can the advanced module be registered, graded and recognised as part of the student’s IMES transcript.
