Planing & Organizing Your Studies

This page helps you plan your semester and navigate the formal requirements of the IMES program.
You’ll find information on how to book advising appointments, where to access the semester schedule, and how to consult the official examination regulations and module handbook.

Getting Started

We offer dedicated orientation sessions to support you at key points in your studies: once at the beginning of the program, and again before starting your Master thesis.

In the first-semester orientation, we explain how the IMES program is structured, how to use KLIPS, how to register for modules, and where to find key academic resources.

Before the thesis phase, a second session prepares you for choosing a topic, finding a supervisor, and understanding submission and evaluation procedures.

These sessions are essential for a smooth study experience — be sure not to miss them!
Dates are announced via email and in class. If you missed a session, please contact the IMES Office.

Advising & Appointments

To request an advising appointment, please email the IMES Office via imes-info@uni-koeln.de.

Semester Schedule

The IMES semester schedule provides an overview of all classes offered in the current semester, including time slots and room assignments. Information about exam formats and dates will be announced during class or published in KLIPS.

Regulations

The examination regulations and the IMES module handbook define the formal structure of the program, credit requirements, and assessment procedures.
