Working in Cologne
There are certain legal restrictions for Non-EU international students who wish to work in Cologne. You therefore can not expect to finance your studies through work, but you may obtain a part-time job to help make ends meet. Those students who have received a student visa because of a stipend, are not allowed to obtain a part-time job. This restriction is included as a part of your residence permit and is clearly printed on the label pasted into into your passport. Students who receive a stipend, but do not require a visa, may obtain a part time job after they have received permission from the proper authorities.
The Cologne Employment Office offers several job agencies for different economic areas. These agencies are geared especially towards students, but may not be used by those students who are currently attending German language courses!
